What is a No Objection Certificate (NOC)?
A No Objection Certificate, commonly known as an NOC, is an official document issued by an organisation, institution, or authority stating that they have no objection to the named individual undertaking a specific activity. In India, NOC letters are among the most frequently requested documents across employment, education, travel, and legal matters.
An employer NOC is one of the most common types in India. It is typically issued by the HR department or a senior authority on company letterhead, confirming that the employee is currently employed and that the company has no objection to them travelling abroad, pursuing higher studies, or undertaking any other specified activity.
Unlike experience certificates or relieving letters, an NOC does not terminate employment. It simply grants permission or confirms non-objection for a specific purpose while the individual continues their existing relationship with the organisation.
