Numerology is a belief system of cultural interest, not a science. These numbers are for entertainment and cultural use only - not medical, financial, or life advice.
| Mulank (Moolank) | Reduce the birth DAY to a single digit 1-9 |
| Bhagyank | Reduce the FULL date of birth to a single digit |
| Lo Shu grid | Digits 1-9 of the DOB in a fixed 3x3 square (0s excluded) |
| Master numbers | 11, 22, 33 surfaced alongside the reduced digit |
| Worked example | Born 15th: Mulank 1 + 5 = 6 |
| Nature | Belief-based / cultural; no scientific basis |
| Privacy | 100% browser-side; no data sent anywhere |
Mulank (driver / root number) reduces only the day of your birth to a single digit. Born on the 15th: 1 + 5 = 6. Born on the 29th: 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2 (and 11 is noted as a master number).
Bhagyank (destiny / life-path number) adds every digit of the full date of birth and reduces. For 15-03-1990: 1 + 5 + 0 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 28, then 2 + 8 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. Because it uses the whole date, the Bhagyank usually differs from the Mulank.
Lo Shu grid places each digit 1-9 of your date of birth into a fixed 3x3 magic square and shows which numbers are present, repeated, or missing. Zeroes are not placed. The calculator above shows every reduction step so you can verify the maths yourself.
In Vedic numerology (ank jyotish), each single digit 1-9 is linked to one of the nine planets (Navagraha) and a set of traditionally associated qualities. Your Mulank and Bhagyank are read against this table. These are cultural associations, not statements of fact about you, and different schools describe them differently.
| No. | Ruling planet | Traditionally associated with |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sun (Surya) | Leadership, independence, ambition, originality |
| 2 | Moon (Chandra) | Sensitivity, cooperation, intuition, harmony |
| 3 | Jupiter (Guru) | Creativity, expression, optimism, learning |
| 4 | Rahu | Discipline, hard work, practicality, an unconventional streak |
| 5 | Mercury (Budh) | Communication, adaptability, curiosity, versatility |
| 6 | Venus (Shukra) | Love, harmony, responsibility, an eye for beauty |
| 7 | Ketu | Introspection, analysis, spirituality, a private nature |
| 8 | Saturn (Shani) | Ambition, discipline, endurance, material drive |
| 9 | Mars (Mangal) | Energy, courage, drive, a strong sense of justice |
Note: Vedic numerology assigns the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu to 4 and 7, where Western numerology often uses Uranus and Neptune. The master numbers 11, 22, and 33, when they appear, are read as intensified forms rather than as a plain 2, 4, or 6.
The rows and columns of the Lo Shu grid are traditionally grouped into "planes". A line whose three numbers are all present in your date is read as a strength in that area (some schools call a complete line an "arrow"); a fully empty line is read as something to develop.
Plane and arrow interpretations vary between schools and are cultural belief, not established fact.
Numerology is not standardised, so honest tools should say where traditions differ. Master numbers (11, 22, 33): some numerologists stop at these and never reduce them; others always reduce to 1-9. This tool shows the reduced digit as the primary result and surfaces the master number alongside, so you can follow either convention.
Lo Shu grid: the basic method uses only your date-of-birth digits (shown here); some schools also add the driver and conductor numbers, and the meaning assigned to a missing or repeated number varies from one school to the next. Treat every interpretation as belief, not fact.
Numerology is a belief system with a long cultural and historical tradition, including the Indian ank jyotish lineage. It is not a science: there is no scientific evidence that numbers from a date of birth or a name determine personality, luck, or destiny.
We provide this calculator for cultural and entertainment interest, with the method shown openly. We do not sell name-correction reports, gemstones, or remedies, and nothing here is medical, financial, legal, or life advice. Enjoy it for what it is, and make real decisions on real evidence.
In Hindi, numerology is ank jyotish; the Mulank is the mulank (also spelt mulaank or moolank) and the Bhagyank the bhagyank (bhagyaank). The Lo Shu grid is the same 3x3 square across traditions. Tamil and Telugu numerology use the same date-of-birth method under local names. Whichever language you use, the arithmetic on this page is identical - the digits of your date reduced to 1-9.
